      Telstra Fixed Wireless

Since the rollout of the National Broadband Network (nbn®), many internet service providers have begun offering nbn® internet plans.

However, not every nbn® provider in Australia is the same. We at Skymesh observed how some Australians have been left behind when it comes to internet access, which is why we cater our services to you.

It’s not always easy to find the best internet provider for rural areas. You want a quick, dependable connection for your home and business. You need a provider that will be there when you need them. Skymesh is the leading option for rural Australians who want reliable, fast internet.

If you’ve gotten frustrated with looking up ‘Telstra fixed wireless’ or ‘internet provider in my area’, consider our different offers. We provide rural internet connections with speeds, data allowances, and customer service that can’t be matched by other providers.

What is the difference between nbn® and fixed wireless?

Launched in 2009, the National Broadband Network, or nbn®, is a government-funded project that strives to future-proof Australian homes and businesses by upgrading their internet connections. Given the increasing importance of the internet in our daily lives, the Federal Government believed that it was especially important for Australia to invest in a robust and fast broadband network.

The goal is to ensure that every home and business has access to a high-speed and stable internet connection, especially in more remote locations.

Fixed Wireless – whether you are referring to Telstra Fixed Wireless, Skymesh Fixed Wireless, or a one from a different provider – is an nbn® connection type. To connect to the web, nbn® Fixed Wireless makes use of the same 4G networks as your mobile device. Your signal comes from the nearest transmission tower via the nbn® network and is picked up by an antenna on your roof.

There are seven different nbn® connection options, but what’s available ultimately depends on your location. Even if you search ‘Telstra Fixed Wireless’, a different connection option may be available, as it all depends on where you live and the infrastructure in your area. For example, if you live in a remote area farther away from any nbn® Fixed Wireless facility, it is likely that you’ll receive satellite internet through a Sky Muster® plan.

To find out what nbn® plans are available at your location, check the coverage of your address on Skymesh.

Do I need a modem for a fixed wireless connection?

For fixed wireless nbn® services such as Telstra Fixed Wireless, the nbn® connection box, which acts as a modem, is used to enable internet connectivity. It’s wall-mounted and needs power to function.

In addition to the nbn® connection box, fixed wireless connections also use the nbn® outdoor antenna, which is typically installed on the roofs of houses. The antenna enables homes to connect to the nbn® network through a transmission tower that’s as far as fourteen kilometres away.

At Skymesh, your nbn® connection box for both Fixed Wireless and Sky Muster® plans is already included. Aside from that, standard installations of nbn® equipment, including the nbn® connection box and antenna, are all free with us.

Since the nbn® connection box already comes with four data ports, you can use an Ethernet cable to connect your device, such as laptops and desktop computers, directly to the box. For Wi-Fi connectivity, you will need a router.

If you are eligible for Skymesh Fixed Wireless nbn® plans, you can opt for a plug-and-play router, which comes with free shipping. You can also use your own nbn®-compatible router, but you must be comfortable configuring it on your own. We do offer limited support for your own nbn®-compatible router with guides to help you connect the router to the internet service.

Who is the best-fixed wireless provider in Australia?

For those who live in regional, rural, and remote areas, Brisbane’s own Skymesh has expanded to provide its customers with affordable and reliable Fixed Wireless nbn® plans.

Our mission is to provide the best rural internet connection, service speeds, customer experience, and data allowances to Australians outside the range of fibre broadband networks commonly available in urban areas. After more than fifteen years in the industry, we know what it takes to bring high-quality internet connectivity to certain regional locations in the country.

We also offer flexibility to our customers. You can change your plan as often as you want without incurring any change fees. Plus, thanks to our 30-day no lock-in contract, you can even try out our service for a month without locking into a long term contract. If the service is not right for you, you can cancel without any cancellation fees.

If you have any concerns regarding ‘no phone line internet’, ‘satellite internet’, or ‘Telstra satellite internet’, our friendly Brisbane-based customer support is available seven days a week, even on public holidays, to answer any questions you might have. No longer will you need to look elsewhere for Telstra Fixed Wireless plans, Wi-Fi internet service, or ask ‘What is home wireless broadband?’ as we are happy to assist you.
