Data Usage
What is usage?
For broadband (fixed wireless and satellite), usage is the amount of data that you download from (and upload to) the Internet.
For telephony (phone and VoIP), usage is the calls you make and the network features you consume via the service.
Does it cost anything?
Skymesh does not charge excess fees for usage of broadband services. If you exceed your data allowance, your service speed will be limited.
Calls and network features are priced as per the relevant Skymesh Phone and Skymesh VoIP for nbn®.
How can I get information about my usage?
You can view your usage online via your My Skymesh app or website. If you can’t access your online account for any reason, please contact us via the Contact Us form on this website, or call 1300 759 637.
How can I manage my usage?
All unbilled Skymesh phone and VoIP calls (usually minus the last two days) can be found in the My Skymesh app under the My Services in the main menu, followed by Data Usage .
You will also find a usage planner here which shows you how much of your data has already been used against how many days you have left in your billing cycle.
How much data do I need?
Listed below are usage estimates (they’re just a guide) for some activities:
- Web Browsing = 2 MB per page
- Email = 50 kB per textual email
- Music = 5 MB per HD song
- Movies = 4 GB per HD movie
- Music Streaming = 100 MB per hour of HD content
- Video Streaming = 3 GB per hour of HD content (view a comparison of data usage across popular streaming services)
How to reduce usage when streaming video online?
3GB per hour on video streaming can add up quickly. If you’re running low on data in a given month or want to save on data in the long term, reducing the video quality of your preferred streaming service may be a good option for you. The process varies by service provider and you can easily revert your settings once your data allowance is refreshed. Click here to learn more.
