We have some exciting news to share for our nbn® satellite customers! Starting 1st December 2023, Skymesh, in partnership with nbn®, is set to enhance your internet experience with the introduction of two new unlimited data plans on Sky Muster Plus Premium.

Say hello to Skymesh Ultra25, our first new plan. Priced affordably at $59.95 per month, it offers unlimited data and download speeds reaching up to 25Mbps.

Our second new plan provides faster download speeds of up to 50Mbps, coupled with unlimited data for just $79.95 per month. Order before 31/12/23 and lock in a $5 monthly discount for 2024. Prices revert to $79.95 per month in 2025.

And let’s not forget the existing Ultra100 plan, priced at $99.95 per month, delivering super-fast speeds of up to 100Mbps and unlimited data. Although not a new entry, it’s worth highlighting for its outstanding value and popularity since its debut in June 2023.

How do these new plans differ from previous Sky Muster Plus versions?

Launched in 2019, Sky Muster Plus has undergone significant changes, improving with each update. The latest plans mark the fifth upgrade to the satellite internet service, designed to cater to the evolving needs of regional Australians.

A notable development since the Sky Muster Plus launch is the amendment in data inclusions and speeds. Initially, Sky Muster Plus offered selective unmetered components at certain times of day and burst speeds above 25Mbps when the network permitted. While useful at the time, it was not a fully unlimited data plan. Users had to carefully manage their usage to avoid running out of data.

With our new plans, say goodbye to data usage anxiety. Our Ultra plans offer a ‘set and forget’ connection, eliminating the need to monitor household internet usage or purchase additional data blocks. These plans are now on par with city-based internet plans, a goal Skymesh and nbn® have been striving to achieve.

Compared to standard Sky Muster plans, these new Unlimited plans represent a substantial leap forward. Unless your internet usage is sporadic, we recommend all existing Sky Muster customers consider switching immediately.

Are these plans genuinely unlimited?

Indeed, all plans include unlimited data, subject to fair use. For more details on this, please refer to our plans CIS documents for more information on nbn’s fair use policy.

How can I upgrade?

The availability of the new plans depends on your current status:

• Existing Sky Muster customers – Switch to a new unlimited data plan from 1st December , 2023.
• Existing Sky Muster Plus customers – Request to switch plans after 1st December, 2023. Plan changes will be effective from 1st January, 2024.
• New customers – Order your new plan from 1st December, 2023, and start using the service immediately after installation.
• Switchers from a different provider – Switch to Skymesh and access the new plan from 1st December, 2023.

For existing Sky Muster Plus customers looking to switch, we understand the delay might be disappointing due to nbn®’s plan change protocols. However, we assure you that new connections and switches from Sky Muster can occur immediately.

Do I need new hardware?

Existing Sky Muster and Sky Muster Plus customers do not require new hardware to access the unlimited data plans. These plans work with the same nbn® hardware you already have. However, if your Wi-Fi router is several years old, an upgrade might be beneficial, especially for the Ultra 100 plan. Our team can help you choose a suitable router that fits your budget and needs.

Router specifications

For optimal performance, nbn® recommends using Wi-Fi routers with recent specifications: 802.11n standard or newer. For the best experience, your Wi-Fi router should support 802.11ac or 802.11ax. Older routers (802.11a/b/g) cannot support Wi-Fi speeds greater than 50Mbps.

All Skymesh supplied routers arrive preconfigured to these specifications for hassle-free internet access.

If you are using a BYO router, you can check your settings by logging into your router or checking its manual.

Which plan should I choose?

With all plans offering unlimited data, your choice will depend on speed and price. Broadly speaking, larger households with multiple devices streaming content online regularly would benefit from the faster Ultra100 or Ultra 50 plans. Light internet users in a one or two-person home will likely find Ultra25 sufficient. Dedicated IPs

Dedicated IPs are available on all Skymesh Ultra plans for an additional fee of just $7.95 per month. If you’ve been holding off your upgrade from Sky Muster to Sky Muster Plus due to the need for a dedicated IP, there is no longer a need to delay your upgrade.

A Dedicated IP is an exclusive publicly routed IP address assigned to one service only.

What does the Dedicated IP add-on make possible?*

• Remote access: remotely access devices on your home network such as your desktop computer or security camera
• Public access: make it possible for your server to be accessed from the Internet

The benefits of the Dedicated IP add-on can vary based on your specific circumstances. Please assess your unique needs before purchasing.

*You may also need to re-configure your device, router or other equipment. A domain name is not included with the add-on. The public IP address assigned to your service is expected to be stable but is not guaranteed to be permanent for the lifetime of your service. nbn® Co and Skymesh reserve the right to re-number. You may need to update your DNS records if it does change.
