    Our mission

We aim to provide regional Australians, who live beyond the scope of fibre broadband networks commonly available in metro areas, with access to the best possible rural internet connection, service speeds, customer experience and data allowances.

We believe that with specialism comes focus and that by exiting the metro nbn® rollout back in 2018, we’re now best placed to help more regional homes stay connected to friends and family than any other provider.

      Our regional story, so far…

      2005

      Proprietary Fixed Wireless Network

Skymesh started out by rolling out its own fixed wireless network in the Gympie and Sunshine Coast regions. We provided 2 Mbps services to residents not covered by Telstra’s ADSL footprint.

      2006

      Suncoast Broadband Preferred Supplier

The Sunshine Coast Regional Organisation of Councils (SunROC) started the Suncoast Broadband project to provide better internet services for the Sunshine Coast. We were selected as a Suncoast Broadband Preferred Supplier for Wireless Broadband services in selected blackspots of the Noosa, Maroochy and Caloundra Shires.

      2007

      First Satellite Service Launched

Skymesh started offering IPSTAR satellite services nationwide. We provided 4 Mbps services to residents outside of the fixed-line and fixed wireless footprints. IPSTAR broadband improved upon the one-way, low bandwidth satellite services that preceded it.

      2011

      nbn® Interim Satellite Service Launched

Skymesh started offering satellite services over nbn® co’s interim satellite network which was established as a stopgap until the long term solution was ready. We provided 6 Mbps services to residents outside of nbn® co’s fibre and fixed wireless footprints.

      2012

      nbn® Fixed Wireless Service Launched

Skymesh started offering services over nbn® co’s new fixed wireless network. We provided 12 Mbps services to residents outside of nbn® co’s fibre footprint. We were also the first provider to start offering 25 Mbps when nbn® co upgraded its fixed wireless network.

      2014

nbn® Satellite Support Scheme Service Launched

Skymesh started offering services under nbn® co’s Satellite Support (NSS) scheme. Under this short-lived scheme, we provided 4 Mbps services to eligible residents that couldn’t access an existing commercial broadband service.

      2014

      Sky Muster® Commissioning

Skymesh helped nbn® co to commission the new Sky Muster satellite network. We provided test services to a handful of enthusiastic Skymesh customers that had been using nbn® co’s interim satellite.

      2016

nbn® Sky Muster® Satellite Service Launched

Skymesh started offering satellite services over nbn® co’s long-awaited Sky Muster satellite network. We provided 25 Mbps services to residents outside of nbn® co’s fixed-line and fixed wireless footprints.

      2018

      Fixed-line business purchased by Superloop

As part of an agreement struck between Skymesh and Superloop, the fixed-line business was purchased by Superloop. Skymesh increased its razor-sharp focus on regional Australia and subsequently became the fastest-growing nbn® satellite provider in the country.

      2019

      Sky Muster® Plus Launched

Skymesh helped nbn® co to test their new Sky Muster Plus service. Fifty test services were supplied to Skymesh customers around the country after intense interest in the trial.

      2020

      Sky Muster Plus Evolution Launched

Skymesh starts providing the new and improved Sky Muster Plus service. Evolution plans include Unmetered Data by default (only streaming video and VPN traffic is metered) and data blocks become available to top up data allowances before the start of the next billing period.
