      FTTP Speeds

With innovations in the way we connect to the internet, you may be interested in FTTP connections and FTTP speeds and how they can improve your internet experience.

In today’s day and age, internet connectivity has become an essential part of many Australians’ everyday lives. Some need internet access for education, while others depend on it to make a living. Whether you’re a student, a work-from-home employee, or a pensioner, you’re always searching for better internet options.

At Skymesh, we understand regional Australians’ need to have access to convenient internet plans. Depending on your location, you can subscribe to our plans that may use FTTP technology. Read along if you want to learn more about FTTP speeds and if you can avail yourself of this connection.

What are the max FTTP speeds in Australia?

nbn® Fibre to the Premises or FTTP can yield a maximum speed of up to 1 Gbps in Australia. Because fibre optic cable is used to run from the nearest available fibre node directly to your premises, it’s possible to attain such speeds with an FTTP connection.

FTTP can offer the fastest nbn® plan in terms of nbn® setup and connection approach when compared to other connection types like Fibre to the Node (FTTN), Fibre to the Building (FTTB), and Fibre to the Curb (FTTC). This is because these technologies use existing copper lines as the last part of the connection.

The same goes for Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC), as the existing cable network is utilised as the final part of the connection.

Still, the specific FTTP speeds can vary due to different factors, one of which is the tier you choose.

For example, if FTTP is available in your location and you select the nbn® 25 tier, you can enjoy typical evening speeds of up to 25 Mbps download and up to 4 Mbps upload between 7.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m. And for the nbn® 50 plan, you can experience typical evening speeds of up to 49 Mbps download and up to 16 Mbps upload between 7.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m.

Lastly, for the nbn® 100 plan, you can experience typical evening speeds of up to 96 Mbps download and up to 16 Mbps upload between 7.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m.

Other than that, local factors may affect the speed of your FTTP internet plans. These include:

      • Hardware. How your computer and other network equipment, such as your modem, router, or access point, perform will affect your internet speed. The length and quality of fibre optic cable used to connect your household to the node and POI can contribute to how fast the connection will be.
      • Software. The configuration of your operating system, network stack, online application, and network equipment may affect the speed of your FTTP plan.
      • Radio-frequency interference. Your Wi-Fi network may be slowed down by interference from nearby networks, microwave ovens, faulty power supplies, or other equipment.

Contact us at Skymesh when you want to learn more about internet speeds. If nbn® has allocated FTTP to your area, we’d be glad to let you know which of our nbn® Fibre plans that are available in your location will work best for you.

How do I know if FTTP is available in my location?

Now that you know everything about FTTP speeds, how can you check if it’s available in your location?

The easiest way is to check your address on our website. Input your location on our internet availability checker to see if nbn®, such as FTTP, is available in your area. Once you do, you can browse through our service plans to learn more about the offers you can enjoy.

You can also contact us if you have questions such as ‘How can I get FTTP speeds?’ and ‘Can I get FTTP at my address?’ Our Brisbane-based team is happy to assist you with your concerns.

In addition, you can also look at the nbn® rollout and coverage map, which is also available on this site. From there, you can find out which cities, towns, and suburbs have nbn® technology or will soon be included in the nbn® rollout and have access to FTTP.

Note that the map does not show the availability of Skymesh plans, and we do not warrant that the information shown on the nbn® co’s rollout map is up-to-date and error-free.

As nbn® continues to expand and connect more Australian households to the internet, we wish to do the same at Skymesh. Our mission is to connect regional Australians to the rest of the world through our award-winning plans
